#7 Fashion Blog: Trunk Shows in Fashion

via google
Trunk shows are for designers to sell merchandise directly to customers in a particular retailer without the retailer having to buy and house any of the merchandise. They where huge before fashion week become a thing and to some my seem like a thing of the past, but are they really? Trunks shows are commonly know to be held in retail stores, but are often held in other venues or even the ones home.

Like fellow designer Lela Rose who in held a trunk show for her fashion collection 'Pearl' at her home in Tribeca last month during fashion week. With food, drinks, music and a chance to mingle with customers and the designer herself. The collection won't be sold in stores or online which goes with wanting to connect with the customers.

Another example of a trunk show comes from Philip Ayler who last year went on a pop-up trunk show kind of tour for about three to four months in the US, Europe and Asia. He is know for his line of bomber jackets made from rare fabrics. With the trunks shows people will get a close up of these pieces and not just see them online and on celebrities.

I don't think trunk shows are a thing of the past but they aren't so popular as fashion shows, but for designers coming into the industry I feel they are a good way to get your brand out there and for people to put a face behind it.
