#4 Fashion Blog: Marc Jacob's 1980 Requiem by Vanessa Friedman

For Marc Jacobs who ended New York Fashion Week his show was a trip down the I love the 80's totem pole. Inspired by a decade of bold colors, the "Working Girl" and Women's empowerment.

As for the set of the show/ show itself was very minimal. The runway was very long leaving the space in a shadow while the chairs added for a dim passageway. Plus music in the show was very limited.

80's nostalgia was in full effect with exaggerated coats, shoulder pads, long rapped around scarves, bow blouses, pleated leather pants accessorized with large taffeta and silk rosettes at the waist all in a bright and bold color palette of ruby, hot pink, turquoise, marigold and grape.

Other looks from the show included flat-brimmed black hats, a pouf skirt, quilted bags, and a strapless empire-waisted evening gown. There was tons of layers on top of layers that according to that article in would make one wince as there was a big contrast between the upper body and her fragile legs.
